ChatGPT and other large language models do not browse the web in real time for every query — but they do use retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) in some modes, and their training data heavily favors content that is clear, authoritative, and well-structured.

When ChatGPT's browsing mode or plugins surface your content, the model selects sources that give direct, quotable answers. Your job is to be that source.

What Types of Content Does ChatGPT Prefer?

AI models consistently favor:

  • Definitions and explanations written in plain language
  • Numbered lists and step-by-step processes
  • FAQ sections with specific questions and concise answers
  • Data and statistics that can be cited with a source
  • Expert opinions attributed to a named individual or organization

Thin, vague content — the kind written to fill word count — is almost never cited. Specificity wins.

How Should You Structure a Page for ChatGPT Citations?

Follow this structure for any page you want ChatGPT to reference:

  1. Lead with a direct answer in the first paragraph. Do not bury the key information.
  2. Use question-based H2 headers so the model can match the header to a user query.
  3. Keep paragraphs short — two to four sentences maximum.
  4. Include a summary section or TL;DR at the top or bottom.
  5. Add FAQ schema markup so structured data confirms your intent to crawlers and AI tools.

Why Does Domain Authority Still Matter?

ChatGPT's browsing mode and third-party plugins prioritize sources that already have strong backlink profiles and domain authority. If your Bangkok business website has few inbound links and thin content, it is unlikely to surface even when you have the right answer.

Build authority by earning mentions from Thai news sites, industry directories, and regional business publications. A single citation from a credible Thai media outlet is worth more than dozens of low-quality links.

Should You Publish in Thai or English?

How Often Should You Update Your Content?

At minimum, review your core service and FAQ pages every quarter. ChatGPT with browsing enabled tends to surface recently updated pages over stale ones. Add a "last updated" date to your posts and refresh statistics annually.
