Why Your Bangkok Business Isn't Appearing in ChatGPT

Why Doesn't ChatGPT Know About My Business?
If you search for your Bangkok business in ChatGPT and it either does not know you exist or gives inaccurate information, you are not alone. Most small and medium-sized businesses in Thailand are invisible to AI engines — not because their business is poor quality, but because their online presence lacks the specific signals AI engines use to learn about and cite businesses.
Here are the most common reasons — and what to do about each one.
Is Your Website Indexed by Google?
Before AI engines can know about your business, Google must index your site. If your pages are not indexed, they cannot be crawled for training data or real-time retrieval.
Check: Go to Google and type site:yourdomain.com. If few or no pages appear, you have an indexing problem. Submit your sitemap in Google Search Console and check the Coverage report for crawl errors.
Does Your Site Have Enough Topical Content?
ChatGPT's base knowledge is built from training data. Pages with thin content — a basic homepage with a phone number and a list of services — are unlikely to make it into training data or be selected for citation.
AI engines learn from substantive content: detailed explanations, specific data, FAQ pages, case studies, blog posts. If your website has fewer than ten indexed pages with meaningful content, AI engines simply do not have enough to work with.
The fix: Publish at minimum a service page, an FAQ page, an About page with team credentials, and five to ten blog posts that answer common customer questions.
Do You Have Strong Enough Domain Authority?
ChatGPT and Perplexity with browsing enabled prioritize sources with established domain authority. A website with no backlinks and a domain age of six months is statistically unlikely to be cited, regardless of content quality.
Build domain authority by:
- Getting listed in Thai business directories (Wongnai, Yellow Pages Thailand)
- Earning a mention from a Thai media outlet or industry site
- Creating genuinely useful resources that other Bangkok businesses link to
Is Your Business Mentioned on External Sites?
AI engines learn about businesses from multiple sources — not just your own website. If your business name appears on review platforms (Wongnai, TripAdvisor, Google Maps), news articles, industry directories, and social media, the AI has multiple reference points to build a confident understanding of who you are.
Businesses with no presence beyond their own website have weak entity signals. The fix is a structured PR and citation-building campaign.
Is Your Content Structured for AI Retrieval?
Even a well-indexed, authoritative site can be invisible to AI if the content is not structured for extraction. Check:
- Are you using question-based H2 headers?
- Do your pages have clear, direct opening answers?
- Have you implemented FAQ schema on key pages?
- Are your pages free of JavaScript-only content that crawlers cannot read?
Have You Verified Your Google Business Profile?
A verified, complete Google Business Profile significantly strengthens your entity recognition. ChatGPT and other AI tools use Google's knowledge graph as a data source. If your business does not appear in Google's knowledge graph — often triggered by GBP verification — AI engines have one less authoritative source to learn from.
Verify your GBP today if you have not done so.
